Engine Degreaser (ED-G)

Specifications

SKU: ED-G

Description

Engine Degreaser (ED-G) is a heavy-duty, water-based alkaline degreaser that strips baked-on engine oil, grease and grime. It dissolves oil into a water-soluble mixture, so it rinses off completely with plain water and leaves no oily film.

What sets it apart is a built-in corrosion inhibitor. Although it is strongly alkaline (pH 13.5), when correctly diluted it is safe on aluminium, alloy rims and other sensitive surfaces, which most degreasers of this strength cannot offer. Use it undiluted on heavy grease, and dilute from 1:4 up to 1:20 for rims, aluminium and delicate finishes.

It is a genuinely multipurpose degreaser for the workshop and car wash, suitable for engine bays, rims, motor chains, floors, machinery and general degreasing. It is intended for automotive workshops, car wash and detailing operators, and experienced car owners who require professional-strength cleaning.

Note: This product is strongly alkaline. Do not apply it undiluted to aluminium, do not allow it to dry on the surface, and always rinse thoroughly. Wear gloves and eye protection, as the corrosion inhibitor protects metal, not skin.

Key Features
  • Powerful on heavy oil, grease and grime, with a built-in corrosion inhibitor
  • Safe on aluminium, alloy rims and sensitive surfaces when diluted
  • Water-based, rinses off clean with no oily film
  • Multipurpose: rims, engine, motor chain, floors and machinery
  • Dilution control: undiluted for heavy grease, 1:4 to 1:20 for delicate surfaces
Benefits
  • Cuts through heavy, baked-on grease that lighter cleaners leave behind
  • Cleans rims and aluminium without the corrosion most strong degreasers cause
  • Replaces several products; simply adjust the dilution
  • Rinses off cleanly with water, leaving no oily residue
  • Economical concentrate for high-volume workshop use
How to Use
  1. Select the dilution according to how heavy the grease is and how delicate the surface is (see Dilution Rate). Use undiluted only on tough, non-sensitive surfaces.
  2. As it is used on many different surfaces, always test a small, concealed area first, and proceed only once no adverse effect is confirmed.
  3. Spray or brush onto the greasy surface.
  4. Leave it on the surface for about 30 seconds to 1 minute to break down the oil and grease. Do not allow it to dry.
  5. Agitate heavy build-up with a brush.
  6. Rinse thoroughly with water.
Safety & Compatibility

Engine Degreaser (ED-G) is strongly alkaline (pH 13.5). Always wear gloves and eye protection; the corrosion inhibitor protects metal, not skin. Apply only to a cool surface, never to a hot engine or in direct sunlight, and allow the surface to cool first. Do not apply it undiluted to aluminium; dilute it (1:4 to 1:20) for aluminium, rims and sensitive surfaces, and rinse promptly before it dries. Store out of reach of children.

Dilution Rate
  • Heavy grease: engine, machinery, floors: Undiluted
  • Rims and general surfaces: 1:4 to 1:10
  • Aluminium and sensitive surfaces: 1:10 to 1:20
Available Sizes
  • 1L, 4L, 20L

Frequently Asked Questions for Engine Degreaser (ED-G)

Can Engine Degreaser (ED-G) be used on more than just engines?
Yes. Engine Degreaser (ED-G) is a heavy-duty, water-based alkaline degreaser for engine bays, rims, motor chains, floors, machinery and general workshop degreasing. The key is dilution: undiluted for heavy grease, and 1:4 to 1:20 for rims, aluminium and sensitive surfaces. It contains a corrosion inhibitor, so when correctly diluted it is even safe on aluminium and alloy rims. Do not use it undiluted on aluminium, and always rinse before it dries.
Match the dilution to the task. For heavy grease on engines, machinery or floors, use it undiluted. For rims and general surfaces, use around 1:4 to 1:10. For aluminium and more sensitive surfaces, use 1:10 to 1:20. It is a strong alkaline degreaser (pH 13.5), so the more delicate the surface, the greater the dilution. A built-in corrosion inhibitor keeps it safe on aluminium and alloy rims at these dilutions. Avoid applying it undiluted to aluminium, do not allow it to dry, and rinse thoroughly afterwards.
Yes, when diluted. ED-G is strongly alkaline, but it contains a corrosion inhibitor that protects the metal, so diluted to around 1:4 to 1:20 it is safe on aluminium, alloy rims and other sensitive surfaces. Use it undiluted only on tough, non-sensitive surfaces, avoid undiluted contact with aluminium, and always rinse before it dries. Note that the inhibitor protects the metal, not the skin, so gloves and eye protection should still be worn.
