Glass Coating (GS-C)

Specifications

SKU: GS-C

Description

Glass Coating is a SiO2-based hydrophobic coating for automotive glass. It makes rainwater bead up and roll off the surface, and at speed the airflow carries the water away, which keeps the windscreen clear and improves visibility and safety in wet weather. It can be used on all exterior glass and mirrors.

It is applied in a single coat. Spread it evenly over clean glass with a sponge, and if too much is applied, simply wipe it even with a clean towel. Leave it to cure for around 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the ambient conditions and temperature. Once cured, the glass can get wet straight away, with no waiting time.

The water-repellent effect lasts around two to three months, and often longer, depending on how the vehicle is used and washed. It is safe on the windscreen and does not cause wiper juddering.

Beyond vehicles, Glass Coating can be used on household and building glass, such as windows, shower screens and mirrors. It is designed for the outer glass surface; window tint is normally fitted to the inside of vehicle glass, so it does not affect exterior application. On filmed or coated building glass, test a small, concealed area first, as films vary, and proceed only once no adverse effect is confirmed.

For the best result, apply to clean glass, and remove any existing water marks beforehand so that the coating bonds to a clean surface. It is suitable for car owners, detailing shops and workshops, as well as homes and buildings.

  5. Once cured, the glass can get wet straight away.
Safety & Compatibility

Glass Coating is designed for the outer surface of automotive glass and mirrors, and can also be used on household and building glass. It is safe on the windscreen and does not cause wiper juddering. Window tint is normally fitted inside the vehicle, so exterior application is unaffected; on filmed or coated building glass, test a small, concealed area first, as films vary. Apply to cool, clean glass out of direct sunlight, and if the product contacts paintwork, wipe it off before it dries. Avoid contact with eyes, and store out of reach of children. Use in a well-ventilated area. The product is flammable while wet, so keep it away from open flames and sparks until it has cured.

Available Sizes
  • 50ml, 100ml, 500ml, 1L, 4L

Yes. It is safe on the windscreen and does not cause wiper juddering. On the windscreen, rainwater beads up and is carried away by the airflow at speed, which keeps the glass clearer and reduces reliance on the wipers in wet weather.
Glass Coating (GS-C) is a SiO2-based coating made specifically for glass; it is applied in a single coat, cures in place, and the water-repellent effect lasts around two to three months or longer. Water Coating (WT-C) is a fluoropolymer-based spray for the whole exterior, including paint and glass; it is quicker to apply and adds gloss as well as water beading, but the effect lasts around one to two weeks. Use Glass Coating for long-lasting rain repellency on glass, and Water Coating for quick, whole-car gloss and water beading.
